“Power management” and batteries are a critical part of the design of small and energy efficient products. It has a big impact on the system design as well as the user experience. We can help you with this!
Using one or more batteries in a product allows for flexibility in how to use a product.
It does, however, require a great deal of technical know-how. This includes a deep understanding of how energy stored in batteries can be converted efficiently for a hardware design.
The type of battery that is selected will give possibilities with respect to manufacturing cost, recyclability, environmental impact, energy storage, operating time and how many times the battery can be charged.
We set these properties against each other based on the requirements, either in a development project or as a part of a prestudy for an existing product!
Batteries come in two main types, with different properties, conditions and cost structure:
Primary batteries are single use, for example alkaline or lithium batteries.
Secondary batteries are rechargable, for exampel Lithium-Ion (Li-Ion), Nickel-Metal-Hydride (NiMH), lead-acid, Nickel-Cadmium (NiCd) and Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4).
We offer services for test and verification to ensure that the product fulfills the reqiurements!
Examples of such services are evaulation of safety, performance, capacity, impedance, charging and how the product behaves in different temperature ranges, as well as providing design advice.
